alesis brought out a modest selection of new products for the oh-four. among them, the micron (left), a compact version of the ion virtual analog synth (check out the horizontal pitch wheel!). other alesis gear included the playmate vocalist vocal processor for all those singers out there, as well as the vocal zapper vocal eliminator. rumor has it that american idol judge simon cowell is first in line to buy one. i keed, i keed.

echo audio's booth reportedly caught fire. firewire, that is. three models in their echo fire (left) line of firewire audio interfaces were on display, a long-awaited showing by the popular audio interface manufactuer. now echo aficionados can party like it's 1394.

access debuted its virus kc (pictured left), the keyboard version of its virus c. no word on whether the sunshine band plans to join in.

for some strange reason, the people at kurzweil woke up in a cold sweat one night and decided to come out with...(gasp) a virtual analog synth. thus begat the va1 (pictured left). forgetting the fact that virtual analog synths are "soo late 1990s," kurzweil insisted on joining the game (however late) with their proprietary dsp technology. but it's not bad, folks - sporting 59 knobs, 108 buttons, 48-band vocoder, processing of external audio signals and midi-syncable lfo, arpeggiator, portamento and effects, i guess they went and saved the best for last.
